Bold Journey – Meet Adam Wanner

May 14th, 2024

We recently connected with Adam Wanner and have shared our conversation below.
Adam, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

My generosity in offering a pool safety fence at the most accessible rate in the state of Oklahoma comes from a deep-rooted desire to protect the children in our community. As both an army veteran, a parent of two sons and a small business owner, nothing warms my heart more than knowing I can contribute to keeping our little ones safe. Their safety is my top priority, and I’m honored to play a part in safeguarding their well-being

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Hey there, I’m Adam Wanner, a proud family man and father of two incredible boys. My company is called “Pool Safety Fence” in Oklahoma. Proper pool fencing can prevent young children & animals from gaining access to the pool area without a caregivers’ awareness. A four-sided isolation fence which separates the pool area from the house and yard reduces a child’s risk of drowning by nearly 90% ! We at PSF will prioritize your family’s safety by personally installing the safest premium materials available on the market with a lifetime guarantee! When I’m not busy running my company you can find spending time with my family, as their safety inspires and reminds me of my life’s mission to keep all children safe from accidental drownings. This is my top priority.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Losing a dear friend’s child to accidental drowning was a profound and heartbreaking experience that shook me to my core. It made me realize the fragility of life and the importance of taking proactive measures to keep our loved ones safe. Witnessing the devastation it brought to my friend’s family ignited a fire within me to do something meaningful. That’s when the idea of starting a pool safety fence company took root. I wanted to turn my grief into action, to channel it towards creating a positive impact in my community. Every child deserves to play freely and safely, and if I can contribute to preventing even one more tragedy, it’s worth every effort. So, I embarked on this journey with a deep sense of purpose and determination, hoping to make a difference and spare other families from enduring that pain.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
One of the biggest challenges I face is convincing parents to prioritize pool safety over what they interpret as “the beauty of their outdoor space”. Many parents have this mindset of, “It won’t happen to us,” which can be a delicate conversation to convince them otherwise. I hate to horrify them of so many examples I have witnessed time and time again. For example, I had a client who, on a snowy day, was outside with her child, keeping a close eye on them near the frozen pool. Despite her warnings, her curious 5-year-old briefly slipped away and stepped onto the icy surface. Thankfully, nothing happened, but it was a stark reminder of how quickly accidents can occur, even under steady supervision.

Instances like these are all too common among my clients. They have this misconception that accidents won’t happen to them. Convincing them otherwise, that will maintain the beauty of their pool area, is a constant struggle. My hope is to inspire more parents to prioritize their children’s safety and, in an ideal world, make pool safety fences the standard rather than the exception.

Protecting Your Pets with a Pool Safety Fence

Pool Safety Fencing for Pets – Protect your dogs from accidental drowning.

A pool safety fence not only protects children from potential drowning incidents, but it can also protect your pets from accidental drowning. Pets, especially dogs, are often drawn to water and may be at risk of drowning if they accidentally fall into the pool or cannot find their way out of the pool.

By installing a safety fence around your pool, you create a physical barrier that can help prevent pets from accessing the pool area unsupervised. The fence should be at least 4 feet tall and have a self-latching gate that opens away from the pool. This will ensure that pets cannot accidentally enter the pool area unattended and unsupervised.

In addition to preventing access to the pool area, a safety fence can also help to prevent other hazards associated with a swimming pool. For example, it can keep wildlife out of the pool, prevent unauthorized access by intruders, and help prevent slips and falls on wet surfaces around the pool.

Keep in mind that not all pets are good swimmers. Some pets may be more at risk of drowning than others, especially those with short legs or those that are not comfortable in the water. It’s important to supervise your pets while they are in the pool area and never leave them unattended.

In conclusion, a pool safety fence is an important safety measure that can protect your pets from accidental drowning and other hazards associated with a swimming pool. By creating a physical barrier between the pool and your pets, you can provide a safer environment for them to enjoy the outdoors. Remember to supervise your pets while they are in the pool area and never leave them unattended, even with a pool safety fence in place.

Prevent Drowning with a Swimming Pool Safety Fence

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), drowning is the leading cause of unintentional injury death among children aged 1-4 years old, and the second leading cause of unintentional injury death among children aged 5-14 years old.

The National Drowning Prevention Alliancewww.ndpa.org provides additional statistics on drowning and prevention, as well as the importance of fencing around residential swimming pools. The Importance of Fencing Your Pool provides articles, as well as the importance of the ‘5 Layers of Protection‘.

The fence should be at least 4 feet tall and have a self-latching gate that opens away from the pool. This will ensure that children cannot accidentally enter the pool area unattended and unsupervised.

Additionally, a safety fence can help prevent drowning by slowing down the process of entering the pool. It creates an obstacle that must be overcome before anyone can enter the pool, which gives parents or caregivers more time to react and prevent a drowning incident.

Furthermore, pool fences can help parents and caregivers to supervise children more effectively while they are in the pool area. The fence creates a designated area for swimming and can make supervision easier, as children are less likely to wander away from the designated swimming area.

Finally, pool safety fences can also help prevent drowning by discouraging children from attempting to climb over the fence or access the pool area without supervision. A properly installed fence will be difficult for children to climb, which can discourage them from attempting to do so.

In conclusion, a pool safety fence is a vital safety measure that can prevent drowning by creating a physical barrier between the pool and young children or other individuals who may be at risk of drowning. It also provides parents and caregivers with more time to react in case of an emergency and can discourage children from attempting to climb over the fence or access the pool area without supervision.
